  • Chart paper
  • Felt pens
  • Great Glasses template (provided)
  • Red felt pens
  • Crayons
  • Black construction paper 11 x 14 inches (one sheet per student)
  • Glue

Teacher Preparation:

  • Print and enlarge enough Great Glasses onto 11 x 17 inch paper for each student

Step by Step:

Step One: Brainstorm examples of Wolf demonstrating perseverance. Brainstorm examples of how students can persevere. Record on chart paper.

  • Examples: I practice my spelling. I learned to read.

Step Two: Provide each student with their Great Glasses.

Step Three: Students draw a picture of how Wolf persevered on the left side of the Great Glasses. Below the illustration, have the students write how Wolf persevered.

Step Four: Students draw a picture of how they personally persevere on the right side of the Great Glasses. Below the illustration, have the students write how they persevere.

Step Five: Students colour the rim of their Great Glasses with a red felt pen, similar to Wolf’s glasses in the story.

Step Six: Students cut out their perseverance glasses.

Step Seven: Students glue their glasses onto black paper and cut it out again, leaving a black border.

End Product:

A class-set of Great Glasses that illustrate how Wolf perseveres, and how they, themselves, personally persevere.
