Wolf! – Activity #2: “Great Glasses!”
Activity #2: “Great Glasses!”
This activity continues to help the students understand the benefits of persevering.
Materials:
- Chart paper
- Felt pens
- Great Glasses template (provided)
- Red felt pens
- Crayons
- Black construction paper 11 x 14 inches (one sheet per student)
- Glue
Teacher Preparation:
- Print and enlarge enough Great Glasses onto 11 x 17 inch paper for each student
Step by Step:
Step One: Brainstorm examples of Wolf demonstrating perseverance. Brainstorm examples of how students can persevere. Record on chart paper.
- Examples: I practice my spelling. I learned to read.
Step Two: Provide each student with their Great Glasses.
Step Three: Students draw a picture of how Wolf persevered on the left side of the Great Glasses. Below the illustration, have the students write how Wolf persevered.
Step Four: Students draw a picture of how they personally persevere on the right side of the Great Glasses. Below the illustration, have the students write how they persevere.
Step Five: Students colour the rim of their Great Glasses with a red felt pen, similar to Wolf’s glasses in the story.
Step Six: Students cut out their perseverance glasses.
Step Seven: Students glue their glasses onto black paper and cut it out again, leaving a black border.
End Product:
A class-set of Great Glasses that illustrate how Wolf perseveres, and how they, themselves, personally persevere.
